Frequently Asked Questions
When is blueberry season?
The timing of our blueberry season depends on the weather conditions, however, our season generally runs from mid-June through July. Depending on the Spring and Summer weather, it could be sooner or later. We have picked in May and in August, so it really does vary. Join our email list to be notified when our berries are ready for picking!
What hours and days are you open?
Join our email list and follow our Facebook page to be notified of our picking dates and times. During the season, we send out weekly emails of the days and times for the next week’s “You Pick”. Usually we send out an email on Sunday for the upcoming week. It depends on the forecasted weather but we generally try to have our “You Picks” on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30PM to 7:30PM (arrive no later than 7:00PM). On weeks when we have a lot of berries we may add other days and times.
What is the cost?
The cost is $3.00 a pound for ‘You Pick’.
Do you use any chemicals/pesticides on your blueberries?
We occasionally use some pesticides (for bugs) on the blueberries. We will tell you if and when they were last sprayed when you come.
Do we need to provide our own bucket?
We provide buckets and gallon jugs for you to use while picking.
Other helpful information:
Be sure you wear closed in shoes (no sandals or flip-flops please). There are bugs, this is an outside activity. Use bug spray. There is a short walk to the field from where you park, but it is worth it!
If we have sent out an email announcing a day and time for ‘You Pick’ and it starts to rain where you are on that afternoon, check your email to see if it has been canceled for that day. We do our best to send out an email of cancelation before 5:00 p.m. It is often raining in Huntsville but not on our side of the river, so please check your email to see before you come out. If no cancellation email is sent, then we are open, but if you get here and it is raining or begins to rain, we will have to close. One does not pick in the rain because the blueberries do not store well if they are wet.
